Like most companies, aerospace giant Boeing has its jargon – words and phrases that uniquely define its products and processes. Take the word platform. It is used at Boeing to mean a family of aircraft – the F/A-18 fighter, for example, or the 777 jetliner.

Boeing Defense, Space & Security Energy Alloys since August 2009, employees in the Global Services & Support (GS&S) division of Boeing Defense, Space & Security have been talking about a different sort of platform: a supply chain technology platform, based on Oracle Business Process Management (Oracle BPM) solutions and Oracle SOA Suite. That platform, built with the assistance of Oracle Diamond Partner Capgemini, is serving as a jumping-off point for Boeing’s GS&S staff to deploy radically improved business processes supported by Oracle Fusion Applications to build a high-visibility, end-to-end supply chain. This business process-driven technology platform has ambitious goals: to help GS&S respond more quickly and accurately to its customers’ needs, to make business processes at all GS&S sites more consistent and less expensive, and to create a foundation for further improvement and efficiency. Middleware Day at UK Oracle User Group Conference 2012

Registration has opened for UK Oracle User Group Conference 2012, the UK’s largest Independent Oracle Technology & E-Business Suite conference from 3rd – 5th December, 2012.

The conference will attract over 1,700 attendees from the UK and internationally. Spanning three days and featuring over 250 presentations which range from end-users telling their war stories to Oracle unveiling the latest product roadmaps. SOA, Cloud and Service Technology Symposium a super success!

SOA, Cloud and Service Technology Symposium in London was a huge success. More than 600 international attendees participated in it. Our SOA & BPM Community had a great presence there.

At joint booth with the Specialized partners link consulting, eProseed and Griffiths Waite, we presented the latest product updates and had many interesting discussions with customers and speakers.

Special thanks to our HQ product management team Demed, Tim, Manas for coming over right before OOW. Also a very big Thank to Matthias Ziegler from Accenture for presenting our joint presentation individually!

Oracle BPM enable BAM by Peter Paul

BPMN processes created in the BPM Suite can be monitored by standardized dashboard in the BPM workspace. Besides that there a default views to export Oracle BPM metrics to a data warehouse. And there is another option: BAM – Business Activity Monitoring. BAM takes the monitoring of BPMN processes one step further. 01 BPM enable BAM select project preferences

BAM allows you to create more advanced dashboards and even real-time alerts. BAM enables you to make decisions based on real-time information gathered from your running processes. With BPMN processes you can use the standard Business Indicators that the BPM Suite offers you and use them to with BAM without much extra effort. However you have to enable BAM in BPM processes. This demo specifically focuses on business reporting, integrated performance diagnostics, tracking of customer journey’s through RUEI’s userflow tracking capabilities and it’s key performance Iidicators tracking and configuration.

Demo Highlights The demo showcases the following capabilities of real user experience Insight.

  • Application-centric dashboard
  • Integration with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c – JVMD, ADP and BTM
  • Session diagnostics and user session replay

Storing SCA Metadata in the Oracle Metadata Services Repository by Nicolás Fonnegra Martinez and Markus Lohn

The advantages of using the Oracle Metadata Services Repository as a central storage for the metadata.

SCA has been available since the release of the Oracle SOA Suite 11g. This technology combines and orchestrates several SOA components inside an SCA composite, making design, development, deployment, and maintenance easier. SCA development is metadata-driven, meaning that metadata artifacts, such as Web Services Description Language (WSDL), XML Schema Definition (XSD), XML, others, define the composite’s behavior.fonnegra-storing-sca-metadata-fig02

With the increased number of composites and the dependencies among them, it became necessary to manage all the metadata in an adequate way. This article will address the advantages of using the Oracle Metadata Services (MDS) repository as a central storage for the metadata. The MDS repository is a central part of the Oracle Fusion Middleware landscape, managing the metadata for several technologies, such as Oracle Application Development Framework (Oracle ADF), Oracle WebCenter, and the Oracle SOA Suite. This article is divided into three parts.

The first part provides an overview of SCA and MDS. The second part describes some MDS tasks that help in the management of the SCA metadata files inside the repository. The third part shows how to develop SCA composites in combination with an MDS repository. Read the full article here.
