Recursive calls in Oracle Integration Flows (Scenario: Paginated API calls for large Data Sets) by Jang-Vijay Singh

image

A number of use-cases can be implemented cleanly using a recursive approach. This post is not to debate the pros and cons of recursion versus looping but provides a simple approach to achieve this.

For scenarios such as the ones listed below, and possibly more, this approach is quite efficient, concise, maintainable, and most importantly, it is highly scalable. It also leaves a smaller runtime footprint with a smaller execution time per instance than a looping flow instance. This also makes error handling easier as I will describe later.

  • Polling (continuously monitoring an FTP location, a database, or an API output)
  • Paginated API’s (when the target system exposes an API with a paginated* interface such as the eBay findProducts operation)
  • Retryable flows
Paginated Calls

Many software systems store large sets of data. For instance, a vendor might have hundreds of thousands of products and product-prices listed on EBay or an eCommerce store. They might have millions of transactions in their PayPal account.

There might occasionally be legitimate scenarios to fetch all of this data. The software system can provide various interfaces to export such data in bulk. Such a bulk data export interface could be raw data files, access to a database, but also a standard API like a Rest Service. Read the complete article here.

How to enable and use Tracing in less than 5 min by Muthu Palanisamy

image

In this short blog, I’d like to show you how easy it is to enable tracing in OIC Integration and start tracing your integration flows. When Tracing is enabled, OIC Integration prints detailed info before and after each action that is executed (optionally the payload if needed). Hence care should be taken to make sure that it is enabled only for debugging purposes and turned off before going production.

Global Tracing

Let’s assume that you have a requirement where you would like to enable or disable tracing for every integration you have created. You can use the global tracing for accomplishing the same. Enable the Global tracing with below steps:

· Login as an administrator.

· Click Settings on the left side.

· Click Trace on the left side.

· Select Global Tracing On and Click Save on the top right.

· Optionally you can select Include Payload which will additionally write the payload.

Integration Level Tracing

If your requirement is to enable the tracing for one or more integrations and disable tracing for the rest of the integrations, you can use Integration Level tracing. Enable the Integration tracing with below steps: Read the complete article here.

Oracle IoT Cloud Apps Rollout in Mexico City by Albert Chiang

image

After the official launch of Oracle IoT Cloud Apps at Modern Supply Chain Conference 2017, we received a stream of requests for information – from potential customers, system integrators, and device makers. Many of them did not know Oracle offered an IoT solution. And most of them did not know that Oracle offered IoT originally as a PaaS – and also now as a SaaS.  This intrigued them.

Mexico and Its Shift to High End Assembly & Manufacturing

So perhaps it wasn’t surprising that the Oracle IoT rollout in Mexico City was a standing room only event. IoT has gained the interest of manufacturers (sometimes also called Industry 4.0) to be able to track manufacturing output, monitor the status of machines in manufacturing, and predicatively call for maintenance.   With Mexico’s strong manufacturing base,  the country has become the third largest source of imports into the U.S., with a total 2-way trade of $579 billion. And that number should change as BMW gears up to produce its popular 3-series car in Mexico by 2019. Read the complete article here.
