Integration Cloud Service & Process Cloud Service – first impressions by Link Consulting

imageProcess Cloud Service

“During the Beta Program and some Oracle events, we had the pleasure to try out the new Oracle Process Cloud Service (PCS). PCS was a very pleasant surprise, with an improved overall User Interface geared towards business users ease of use (think Oracle BPM Process Composer but easier) and a thorough use of Oracle’s ALTA UI. The results were very impressive, as the  UI is not only more appealing, but also offers a guided experience, which prevents errors from the users and simplifies the design and deployment of Business Processes.

During our analysis and experiments with the product, there was another aspect that clearly stood out: The actual process management features, ranging  from Realtime KPI Management charts – similar to Oracle BAM, fully integrated and available from the get-go without any kind of configuration -, to full audit and history view capabilities, quickly enabling process manipulation and error handling, with a very shallow training curves from support. It’s really brilliant.

Finally, the ability to provision and have your own BPM platform almost immediately, fully secured in the cloud, will increase the ability to respond to market inputs and requests, giving further agility to Line of Business.

The pathway to self-servicing processes is laid out. Say goodbye to over complex BPM projects that cost several hundred thousand of euros. With Oracle PCS, time-to-market can be significantly reduced, with further commitment and involvement from the business areas, with . We highly recommend it.

Integration Cloud Service

“Oracle’s Integration Cloud Services (ICS) is Oracle’s tackle on simplifying IT integrations.

Many of the SOA integration patterns aren’t really used on most real life projects, with 20% of the patterns being used 80%+ of the times. With ICS, oracle concentrated on those most used integration patterns, and worked on a user interface that made it very easy to implement them. From a few tests we made, the actual training times to implement integrations decreased by significant amount, and ICS now has very cool features, such as a hint mode that “guesses” what data matches each side of the integration point and pre-builds those connections, thus further reducing the time needed to build an integration point.

Together with Oracle’s Process Cloud Service (PCS), Oracle now offers a comprehensive set of platforms, that can help your organization move to the cloud, building rich applications in record time, fully customized to your own requirements, and with seamless Cloud to On-Premise capabilities. You must try them both.

If you use it in the right way, ICS will give your IT department the edge and quick response your Line of Business always wanted to have.

Thomas Kurian on the Role of Today’s CIO in Cloud & Business Transformation

clip_image002Expectations of business-driven IT are higher than ever and changing rapidly.  Words like agility, mobility, digital, data, cloud and customer centricity are common and constant from Line of Business (LOBs) executives like CMOs. Today’s business must move at the pace of – scratch that – ahead of the pace of today’s consumer. Businesses must anticipate customers’ needs to be truly customer-centric organizations.  Innovation through the cloud is a big force driving customer experience and customer centricity.

Here’s another word of importance: collaboration.  And collaboration is essential to make a successful business-led technology transformation. Today’s CIO will play a pivotal role in crafting that collaboration between IT and business leaders. Unfortunately, the process hasn’t taken root just yet.

According to a recent ZDNet article, research shows that confidence and collaboration between LOBs and IT is not strong. The article cites a new CIO Magazine survey showing that 54% of business leaders view IT “as an obstacle to their mission.” Forrester research shows that less than half of marketing managers collaborate with IT when developing a technology strategy. And our Oracle study revealed that less than 1/3 of marketing and IT executives surveyed reported collaborating “frequently,” while at the same time noting greater success when they do collaborate.

Kurian believes the CIO will play a pivotal role with collaboration, cloud and business transformation. In this video he states “cloud actually empowers CIOs to take the lead with innovation.” He goes on to say that today’s CIO role is not diminished just different, requiring a new business mindset. The CIO is very much essential to this new digital, customer-centric business revolution.

ZDNet reporter Dion Hinchcliffe had some great insights on the future role of CIOs: “The CIO should have – or should quickly ascertain – a better sense of how to translate the current business into today’s emerging digital marketplaces and channels. And yes, that means knowing more about how to apply digital to various parts of the enterprise than line of business executives. Relentless education and experimentation is required here to be successful. The CIO should be the visionary and evangelist that can get business – from the management team to the workforce – fully on board with digital business.”

Cloud is the future of business transformation; CIOs will play a key role. As Kurian says, CIOs are extremely important to their executives and businesses, and the cloud empowers them to take the lead.  The best CIOs in the industry are beginning to grasp that and train their staff to become experts in cloud technologies. For more on cloud innovation, read Oracle CEO Mark Hurd’s recent piece on how cloud is revolutionizing business in four key areas.

This is just one entry in a series of blog videos with Kurian. Oracle Social Cloud Group VP Meg Bear spent the day recently with Kurian discussing everything from the changing role of today’s CMO and CIO, to data and innovation, to the importance of user experience. Check back each week as we feature a new video with insights from Kurian on how Oracle is partnering and co-innovating with our customers to help pave a path of success and deliver consistent, rewarding and exceptional experiences for their customers. SaaS-OnPremise Integration with Fusion Middleware demo available

clip_image002To get access to the Oracle demo system please visit first OPN (OPN account required)

With the increasing popularity of software as a service (SaaS), there is a key imperative to quickly, efficiently and securely integrate the newer SaaS applications with their existing on-premise counterparts. Using an incident management/service delivery scenario, this demo shows how Oracle Fusion Middleware streamlines this integration via a unified framework of middleware components that masks the technical differences and enforces consistency via a common integration platform for SaaS and On-Premise applications.

Highlights

  • Incident management/service delivery scenario with multiple user personas to reflect real world use case
  • SOA Suite 12c with Oracle Cloud and On-Premise Adapters to integrate Oracle Service Cloud and E-Business Suite applications
  • Scalable and secure access management for cross-application processes and transactions via OAM Mobile and Social, OAG, OID
  • This demo is mostly an iPhone based demo.
