The Interneimaget of Things Will Change Your Business: What’s Your Plan?

The Internet of Things (IoT) represents the convergence of mobile, cloud, big data, and analytics. To leverage the IoT and reinvent themselves, businesses have to grapple with the complexities of managing big data, multiple devices, platforms, and connections. Connected devices that form the genesis of the IoT are getting smarter. They are evolving our physical world into a new kind of interconnected information system, driving a new wave of data, and creating unprecedented business value by driving new revenue services for those who embrace the opportunity.
The IoT is uniquely transformative and has the potential to reinvent everything from supply chains to the customer experience. It will help companies apply data-driven insights and use machine-to-machine technology to diagnose and solve problems—closer to the edge device and without human intervention. The question is how do you quickly pinpoint the innovations and opportunities that will help your company use IoT data to reinvent your business for the digital age?
Session Highlights:

  • The IoT revolution: productive or disruptive?
  • IoT at work: perspectives on driving success
  • Oracle’s vision for a secure IoT from the edge to the enterprise: insights into a holistic solution

Who Should Attend:

  • CEOs/CIOs/CTOs of organizations planning or delivering IoT and M2M strategies or initiatives
  • EVPs/SVPs/VPs heading IoT and M2M groups within organizations or who are in charge of large-scale projects requiring intelligent devices, data collection, management, and analysis, and the storage and extraction of business intelligence data

Check-in starts @ 08:30 CET
Lunch 12:00 – 13:30 CET

IoT end-to-end demo – Remote Monitoring and Service By Harish Doddala

Historically, data was generated from predictable sources, stored in storage systems and accessed for further processing. This data was correlated, filtered and analyzed to derive insights and/or drive well constructed processes. There was little ambiguity in the kinds of data, the sources it would originate from and the routes that it would follow. Internet of Things (IoT) creates many opportunities to extract value from data that result in significant improvements across industries such as Automotive, Industrial Manufacturing, Smart Utilities, Oil and Gas, High Tech and Professional Services, etc.

This demo showcases how the health of remotely deployed machinery can be monitored to illustrate how data coming from devices can be analyzed in real-time, integrated with back-end systems and visualized to initiate action as may be necessary.

Use-case: Remote Service and Maintenance
Critical machinery once deployed on the field, is expected to work with minimal failures, while delivering high performance and reliability. In typical remote monitoring and industrial automation scenarios, although many physical objects from machinery to equipment may already be “smart and connected,” they are typically operated in a standalone fashion and not integrated into existing business processes. IoT adds an interesting dynamic to remote monitoring in industrial automation solutions in that it allows equipment to be monitored, upgraded, maintained and serviced in ways not possible before. Internet of Things – The Oracle platform by Torsten Winterberg

IoT will be the next game changer. We’re entering a world, where Billions of devices will be able to play in role in higher level processes. There will be many more machines using our todays internet than humans will do. This is a summary of an Openworld session on Oracle IoT strategy.

IoT Definition from Wikipedia:
Equipping all objects in the world with minuscule identifying devices could be transformative of daily life. For instance, business may no longer run out of stock or generate waste products, as involved parties would know which products are required and consumed. One’s ability to interact with objects could be altered remotely based on immediate or present needs, in accordance with existing  end-user agreements.

Some major challenges have to be addressed:

  • Complex value chain
  • Lack of standardization to build, deploy & manage IoT applications
  • No consistency in managing security of data and identity of devices
  • Need to analyze Fast data in real time
  • No integration platform to convert data into business automation

Oracle launched their Iot platform at Openworld 2013 with this focus:

  • Standardize application development for devices, enterprise, web and mobile apps
  • Analyze IoT data to achieve real-time visibility
  • Integrate IoT data with enterprise applications & cloud infrastructure
  • Secure data & identity across devices and enterprise data center
