Hi Jürgen Kress,
Does this replace ADF-mobile?
Or can i still just use adf-mobile with its own licensing (requires only ADF license).
If Yes, will “pure” adf-mobile still exist in 12c with the same licensing?
Hi Johnny
ADF mobile is a development tool to build mobile applications on iOS or Android. With mobile suite you can integrate mobile applications via REST (Oracle Service Bus) and with mobile security suite you can secure your mobile applications. Each component can be licensed separate.
Best regards Jürgen Kress
Thanks Jurgen,
I have found the licensing for adf-mobile:
“How is ADF Mobile licensed?
ADF Mobile is licensed as part of the Oracle Application
Development Framework (ADF). Oracle ADF can be licensed either
as “Oracle Application Development Framework and TopLink” item
on the technology price list, or as part of the Oracle WebLogic
licenses.
A named user plus license of ADF will entitle customer a single
named user license of the ADF Mobile. A processor license of ADF
will allow customer to deploy ADF Mobile-based application to
unlimited number of devices. ”
We have an ADF license and weblogic licensed server.
If i build an app with 11g ADF mobile (not suite), i will still be able to upgrade it to 12c, the seperate adf-mobile will still exist? and i would not have to buy the mobile suite?
“If i build an app with 11g ADF mobile (not suite), i will still be able to upgrade it to 12c, the seperate adf-mobile will still exist? and i would not have to buy the mobile suite?”
ADF Mobile – from a deployment perspective – is independent from the WLS or FMW platform you run the remote services on. This means that an upgrade on the server side doesn’t change the license requirement for ADF Mobile. ADF Mobile itself exists for JDeveloper 11g R2 (currently at 11.1.2.4.) and not in JDeveloper 12c (12.1.2).
For mobile in JDeveloper 12c you will – unfortunately – have to wait for further announcements as this is not yet out (scheduled for some time in summer). To the best of my knowledge, what I can say is that there will remain the option for a separate mobile license and you don’t have to purchase Mobile Suite (if this is a concern).
HI Frank,
Thank you for the reply.
We are about to start rebuilding our current customer app with adf-mobile.
I have read some for about the licensing and i am now confused. The pricing list says the following:
Mobile Suite Technology
Mobile Suite 45,000 9,900.00 Processor
Mobile Client Runtime 100 22.00 Named User Plus
50,000 11,000.00 Application Developed
Application Development Framework Mobile 110 24.20 Named User Plus
55,000 12,100.00 Application Developed
Named User Plus Software Update
License & Support
Processor
License
Soft
When i read the FAQ it says something else:
“How is ADF Mobile licensed?
ADF Mobile is licensed as part of the Oracle Application
Development Framework (ADF). Oracle ADF can be licensed either
as “Oracle Application Development Framework and TopLink” item
on the technology price list, or as part of the Oracle WebLogic
licenses.
A named user plus license of ADF will entitle customer a single
named user license of the ADF Mobile. A processor license of ADF
will allow customer to deploy ADF Mobile-based application to
unlimited number of devices. ”
It seems that i will have to pay 55,000 dollar to deploy my app made with ADF-Mobile (not suite).
We are about to start rebuild our customer facing app in adf-mobile. but the confusion is a major showstopper and I would hat having to look for alternatives, as we are mostly based on ADF.
regards
Johnny
