Besides many updated cloud services like Oracle Integration, Digital Assistant or Content & Experience Cloud Service a new release of Fusion Middleware 12c 12.2.1.4.0 is available. During the conference Oracle unvield the new branding which including a new mission statement. Integration with API less Systems – Leveraging RPA – Definitive Tip #10 by Phil Wilkins

Traditionally integrating with systems that don’t offer APIs or a shared storage mechanism (such as open tables) has been something of a headache often resulting in the ‘last mile’ of the integration process being manual. The manual steps often come because the cost of building and maintaining the means to integrate has not been cost effective or even an option (vendor has end of lifted a product, and not willing to add an integration mechanism).

The idea of ‘screen scraping’ isn’t new, but the cost of implementing such mechanisms has dropped and the new generation of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools such those provided by UiPath have made it significantly easier to integrate and automate UI driven processes. Whilst UI based integration isn’t recommended as a first option for integration, it shouldn’t be ruled out particularly as it gets easier and easier to generate and maintain the UI automation. There are several factors that need to be considered as to whether such an approach is appropriate, for example:

  • the ability to run a robot to execute the UI interaction,
  • the volume of data needing to be moved through the UI – you wont escape the latency issues that may exist with UI steps,
  • is the UI being automated changing rapidly (is there enough cost benefit for automating). Read the complete article here.

Cloud Integration Patterns Using Oracle PaaS by Abhay Kumar

Integration is a key aspect in any Cloud implementation. The integration usecases can be presented in many forms such as integrating cloud applications and on-premises applications in real-time or getting a data into an application from a file generated by a data-source or it can exposing APIs to an application which does not  expose web-services natively. This blog describes high-level integration patterns using Oracle’s PaaS services. This blog provides high-level design patterns backed by a real-world usecases. Some of these patterns may have an implementation reference that provides drill down details into the implementation of these patterns. However, some patterns may not have the implementation details as yet. · Oracle’s Formula for Cloud Success On Oracle’s second-quarter earnings call, Oracle Executive Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison emphasized that two strategic initiatives would determine Oracle’s success: the cloud-based Oracle Autonomous Database, which provides “the largest technology lead we have ever enjoyed over our database competitors since we entered the database market almost four decades ago,” and its two cloud-based enterprise resource planning suites.
