How to configure Oracle SOA/BPM task auto release by Rubix

01When a Oracle SOA or BPM workflow task is assigned to a role and/or group, a user may acquire the task to work on it. Once the task is acquired, other users are not able to work on that specific task. In the Oracle SOA-INFRA, used by both SOA Suite and BPM Suite, there is a feature called ‘task auto release’ which allows to configure the duration before tasks are automatically released and made available for all other users again.

In Enterprise Manager go to soa-infra -> SOA Administration -> Workflow Properties

Select the Task tab and expand Advanced. There you can see there are default values for automatically releasing tasks according to their priority. In the screenshot below the default value of P3D (3 Days) is changed to P1TM (1 minute) for testing purposes. This is done for the priority 3 task, which is the default priority. SOA Suite 12c launch by the SOA Community

THANKS to all SOA Community Partners for the excellent SOA Suite 12c launch. It was an amazing 50 hours of an almost around the clock twitter storm! It was worth waiting a long time for the SOA Suite 12c release the first feedback is superb! Special thanks to the Amis team who publish a whole series – or a book of blog post about SOA Suite 12c!

We now have the opportunity to convert this SOA Suite 12c storm in joint business! Make use of our SOA Suite 12c launch event marketing campaign and run local launch events for your customers. Most of our customers use many different products from different vendors for integration. Different vendors for ESB, BPEL, governance, b2b, OEP, cloud integration, mobile integration….. You have the opportunity to consolidate them and make SOA Suite as their one and company wide solution. Make sure you get trained and let us know when your first customers go in production on SOA Suite 12c!

Here are some of the best quotes & tweets about SOA Suite 12c – THANKS to all partners & ACEs & product management! Jürgen

We had serious competition during the SOA Suite 12c launch! Congratulations to Prasanth James Who holds the current record for a SOA Suite 12c installation in 6 minutes! The challenge continues let us know if you are faster!

The SOA Community had also great fun during the SOA Suite 12c launch!

Manuel Rosa recruited a new member to the SOA Community – congratulations to your sun! He was born right during the SOA Suite 12c launch and Dain gave him the name “JaySON”

Working with Oracle Security Token Service in an Architecture Involving Oracle WebLogic and Oracle Service Bus by Ronaldo Fernandes

Using Oracle Security Token Service to generate Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) tokens.

download-icon13-1Oracle Service Bus

Recently, I’ve worked on a proof of concept for the use of Oracle Security Token Service (OSTS) in an architecture involving Oracle Fusion Middleware, focused on Oracle WebLogic Server (WLS), Oracle Web Service Manager (OWSM) and Oracle Service Bus (OSB). There are many security scenarios in which OSTS can be used, but the initial objective was to provide single sign-on between WLS and OSB using OSTS to generate Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) tokens. This article describes the steps to implement this solution.

Scenario

The solution was applied on OWSM with OSB 11g (11.1.1.6), Oracle Access Manager (OAM) 11gR2 (11.1.2) and WLS 11g (10.3.6). A Security Token Service (STS) creates and validates security tokens, using protocols such as WS-Trust, acting as a centralizer point in security infrastructure architecture and simplifying identity propagation between heterogeneous environments.

OSTS is an Oracle Identity Management access management solution. For more information on OSTS, consult the following articles by Oracle Fusion Middleware A-Team solution architect Andre Correa:

The proof of concept required a client on WLS accessing a service provided by OSB using SAML. The SAML Assertion should be generated from OSTS.

WLS can use WS-Trust policies and communicate with OSTS, but OSB 11g still doesn’t support WS-Trust policies. To work around this issue, configure OSB to trust messages signed by an OSTS certificate. Here is the complete scenario: Read the complete article here.

SOA 11g – Create RESTful Service In Oracle SOA by Vivek Garg

There are two types of web services. SOAP and REST web services. We usually deal with SOAP web services in Oracle SOA but we can also create RESTful web services in SOA.

RESTful web services are built to work best on the Web. Representational State Transfer (REST) is an architectural style. In REST data can be transmitted over a standardized interface (such as HTTP).

This post shows how we can create RESTful web service in Oracle SOA. Follow below steps to create it. We will use below schema for this post.

First create one SOA project. In composite.xml file drag “HTTP Binding” adapter and start configure it. Read the complete article here.

Ready-To-Use SOA/BPM 11.1.1.7.1 Virtual Machine and Case Management Sample by Red Samurai

There is a new excellent Virtual Box VM for the latest SOA/BPM 11.1.1.7.1. This one is my favourite, it includes latest Oracle products for SOA/BPM and WebCenter. All is configured, fine tuned and ready to use. Read more and download from Oracle OTN site – Pre-built Virtual Machine for SOA Suite and BPM Suite 11g.
The same as in previous release of this VM, you can start each server with one click in the console window:
UI for the standard BPM Worklist application is refined in SOA/BPM 11.1.1.7.1 release – it looks lighter and cleaner. Definitely, something users would like to use, everything can be customised if needed: Read the complete article here.
