BPM Suite 12c Community feedback

THANKS to all BPM Community Partners for the excellent BPM Suite 12c launch. It was an amazing 50 hours of an almost around the clock twitter storm! Superb to see all the SOA Specialized partners who now add BPM Suite services to their projects and who implement all the large projects in Europe!
With BPM Suite 12c we now have the opportunity to upsell all SOA Suite customers to BPM Suite. Specially the new BPM Suite features for business users like KPI management and process analytics are exciting. Also in BPM Suite 12c developer productivity is a huge step forward!

Adaptive Case Management – Exposing the API – part 2 by Roger Goossens

In the previous blogpost we’ve built a custom java API on top of the ACM api. In this blogpost we’ll make a service of this API exposing its public methods and test it against a small test case.

The TestCase for this blogpost is also available on GitHub. It’s a small composite containing a simple case called TestCase.
Milestones
We’ve got 2 milestones in the case, one called caseStarted, which is set after the case has started, and the other is called testUserEventFired signalling that the user event testUserEvent has been fired.
Stakeholders
The only stakeholder for the case is called CustomStakeholder of which the user weblogic is a member.
User Events
We’ve defined a user event called testUserEvent. This is the event we’ll be firing via our exposed API later on.
Organization
The CustomStakeHolder Role has been added to the project with the weblogic user as its member.
Business Rules
The TestCase contains 2 business rules for setting milestones. Read the complete article here.

Got Cloud? Get Mobile Too! By Tanu Sood

Now here’s a recipe – have some applications, sprinkle in a mix of cloud applications and then top it with mobile enabled applications and you have got yourself a digital enterprise! So long as your applications are "talking" to each other or are able to connect with user-friendly portals, sites or can be extended to mobile interfaces, you have got a winning recipe.

And the key ingredient in all of this – integration.
Take a cue from Ricoh Americas Corporation, a subsidiary of Ricoh Company Ltd, a global technology company specializing in office imaging equipment, production print solutions, document management systems, and IT services. They have been implementing on a social, mobile, cloud strategy since 2010. Ricoh leveraged a SOA-based integration services layer across its entire enterprise to connect – Oracle and non-Oracle applications, front-end to back-end applications and on-premise to cloud applications. What’s more, Ricoh is leveraging the same integration infrastructure to extend their Oracle EBS application to mobile devices too. Plus, the company has built a social collaboration forum that is integrated with their RightNow knowledge database to build an "ideation" platform that not only sparks innovative ideas but sometimes serves as the first line of troubleshooting support for its customers.

Pondering the Oracle Service Bus by René van Wijk

What we are going to do in this post, is present some real-life problems and show how to obtain the necessary data, analyze it, and make corrective actions. Oracle Service Bus architecture is centered around an Enterprise Service Bus. The bus provides message delivery services, based on standards including SOAP, HTTP and Java Messaging Service (JMS). It is typically designed for high-throughput, guaranteed message delivery to a variety of service producers and consumers. It supports XML as a native data type, while also offering alternatives for handling other data types. Oracle Service Bus is policy driven and enables us to establish loose coupling between service clients and business services, while maintaining a centralized point of security control and monitoring. It stores persistent policy, proxy service, and related resource configurations in metadata, that can be customized and propagated from development through staging to production environments required. The message-brokering engine accesses this configuration information from its metadata cache. freezecpuusage
Oracle Service Bus is an intermediary that processes incoming service request messages, determines routing logic, and transforms these messages for compatibility with other service consumers. It receives messages through a transport protocol such as HTTP(S), JMS, File, and FTP, and sends messages through the same or a different transport protocol. Service response messages follow the inverse path. Thne message processing by Oracle Service Bus is driven by metadata, specified in the message flow definition of a proxy service.
The processing of messages occurs in the following sequence of events:

  • Processing of the inbound transport
  • Message flow execution
  • Processing of the outbound transport

After a message is sent to an endpoint (either a business service or another proxy service), Oracle Service Bus processes the response message in a similar model as that described in the preceding sequence of events.
